Guided walking tour in English and Italian of the Duomo (external) and mysterious corners of Milan
If someone’s told you Milan is all about fashion, finance and the Last Supper then they've probably never been on this tour. There are so many places of surprising beauty and hidden stories waiting to be discovered that often not even the younger Milanese know about them. That's why we've decided to offer this tour in Italian and English. So not only will you get to discover places that no other tour takes you too, you'll also get to share the experience in the language of the locals.
We start outside one of the city's most well-known landmarks, its imposing Duomo. Building began more than 600 hundred years ago when the ruthless Viscontis ruled this city. Madonnas, demons and despots all jostle for space amid the pinnacle forest of statues and they do say the devil is in the detail. Educational and fun, history meets myth, the boundary between reality and fiction. But don't be fooled, as we retrace the long-interred mediaeval canals we're then off to discover the city’s lesser-known spots in search of eclectic architecture, beautiful gardens, the only bone chapel in the city and the hospital for the poor, known as the Big House. As you learn a little about the fascinating history that has shaped Milan’s fortune over the centuries, stories of the plague, murder, love and treachery will unfold and you’ll gain a whole new insight into the financial powerhouse of Italy.
If you'd like a completely private tour, just contact us at hello@milanwalkingtours.org and we'll make it happen.
